Destroyer of Darkness

More promotional art for Kaga, the main game I'm developing in Project Spark (and if you don't know what that is, please go check it out; it'll blow your socks off). Since Spark is still in beta, I'm focusing on refining the story and game mechanics. I do plan on building and publishing Chapter 1 as a demo of sorts, since it will be a pretty manageable segment, and introduce players to the basics. I'm not planning on doing anything too complicated, really. Like most everything I do, storytelling will be front and center.

As for the picture itself--and the premise of the game--this gal is Marika (who I sketched a little elsewhere in my gallery). Her outfit has been updated to reflect the character model available in Spark, which means I had very little if anything at all to do with its design (though I picked the colors). All credit goes to Brad Shuber and the amazing Team Dakota art team! Marika is the player-controlled character, hailing from a large family of miners, and she teams up with the mysteriously broken Nature Aspect of the Sun, Kaga, to help him restore his power and his place in the sky.

I sketched and inked this on my Surface Pro tablet, which is very nice since I'm not at home with my Wacom very often of late (there's construction right next to my house; no peace to be had...). Being able to get art done while on the go is such a relief, not to mention I can access Project Spark on the Surface as well! It's such a little bundle of convenient.
