Die Ministerin von Ambrotos by Art-Zealot Die Ministerin von Ambrotos by Art-Zealot
This was another one of those quick sketches that gets out of hand due to a combination of looking at pretty dirndl dresses and listening to character playlists. Started as an excuse to figure out what kinds of jewelry Tris deigns to wear around her neck. She has a thing about never covering her Mark of Ministry (unless it's super cold outside, of course), which limits her options, but she'll still wear it on special occasions. She's equally picky about dangling earrings, which she tends to avoid because they make her think her antennae are somehow fluttering around during the daytime.

Not pictured: Bastian standing next to her in lederhosen.

She's actually Occitan— from the region that is now the south of France just north of Spain— but she oversees the district of Ambrotos in Sybal Heim, which encompasses all European cultures.

Huh, so she had to study all european languages?

There's a supernaturally gifted "universal language" called Sybalian that means you don't need to learn new languages, but Tris likes to be at least conversational in the native languages of her Citizens.

Definitely seems like the kind of gift Bastian would get for her. ;D ...as much as it reinforces her suspicion that he treats her like one of his garden plants.

The design is definitely what attracted me to the dress in the first place! All those little leafies and the blue satin~

It is quite beautiful! You referenced the photos well but also giving it your own personal touches to make it your own!

If you ever open commissions again, I'll need to keep you in mind perhaps. Nonetheless, keep up the amazing work! :D

Hei des is aba a fesch madel.
I love Dirndel. Have my own but rarely wear it since it's a bit tight^^ and I am living in a part of germany where it's uncommon to wear Dirndel. She needs a partner now that wears Ledernhosen. ^^

Danke vielmals!

They're really so beautiful; the embroidery on some of them is mind blowing. Is there a place in Germany where it is still common to wear dirndl for everyday activities? Or is it mostly just special occasions?

(Hehehe, well her personal assistant is Austrian, so he might look magnificent in some lederhosen. ;D )

Trachten are mostly worn in bavaria were they originate from. As far as I know there are only a few people wearing them for everyday activities. They are more used like a unifrom for waitresses and traditionell bands. They are very often worn during special occasions like weddings or festivals like Oktober Fest or Vasen of course :D Trachten are very expansive ( at least the original ones not the cheep iminations from asia) depending on the fabric that is used the prices are off limits. And they are very uncomfortable. They are worn very tight in combination with a corsage. So you can not loll around more or less but sit streight and so on.

Manly man wear Lederhosen! XD

Expensive and uncomfortable— seems like both are common themes when it comes to fashion through the ages! ^^;

Thanks for the info! C:

Might be! We try to lean away from only promoting Euro-centric/originating festivals and focus more on some that are unique to the city, but that kind of thing is very good for SketchJam prompts, and is celebrated in the city I'm sure!

I rarely see characters drawn in Dirndl. Very cute, have to do that, too :D
