(SH:FF D3) A light for the Hound

My third Disciple entry for Sybal Heim's Founder's Festival event!

Tristine has many little traditions she likes to observe for the Founder's Festival's activities: social get-togethers, competitions, hosting events and participating in countless more. The River of Lights has always been her favorite, though. There are still parties to attend and social calls to make, but the lantern ceremony is a chance for her to unclench her fists and release her stresses and worries. For her river lantern, she situates a rolled up piece of parchment—be it a letter, a poem, or a confession—around the wick of the lamp, to burn away the moment the vessel is lit. She guards the lamp fiercely during its transportation to the river, allowing no one else to touch it.

This second lantern is a bit more unusual, but no less important to Tris. She knows that Theo can never enjoy Basileus' majestic lantern display, or see the beauty of the river at night afire with thousands of lights. And so for the past two centuries, Tristine steals into a quiet part of the Emperor's Garden with a small lantern and sets it upon a windowsill to shed a light into the darkened rooms of Kardia Manor.
